Sahagun and Leon

Last night we stayed at a beautifully renovated albergue just outside of Sahagun. Before we arrived we passed over the halfway mark. I posted the picture of this event yesterday.

It was a relaxing day once we got there. I met a man from Brazil and he is doing he Camino in memory of his mother who recently died. I had seen him many times before, almost always alone. He has a very specific goal and is serious about finishing it, not only for her but for himself. An inspiration.

Our little group has decided to make one more bus jump to Leon. It will put me ahead by a day and gives me another rest day for my tendons. They need to be ready for my boots next week for the next mountain. As long as its flat and dry I'll keep wearing my sandals to prevent more wear on my heels. Stephanie's husband told her it was good we are taking a sabbath rest day. What a wonderful way to phrase it!

Leon is a big city with lots to do. Since pilgrims seldom have time or energy to sight see its a great time to walk a bit without the pack and all the gear. Its also a good time to buy different shampoo since mine is the probable source of the rash on my neck. I'm sitting in a cafe down the road from the cathedral just resting and making use of the free WiFi. We are staying in an old monastery and there's no WiFi, but its a great place. I'm looking forward to vespers tonight and the pilgrim service.

By the way, we found a Mexican restaurant in Leon we are going to try tonight. It will be interesting to see how Spaniards interpret Mexican cooking. Everything here is so bland that when I asked about where to find spicy food I was called a strong woman, lol.

Here are pictures of last nights albergue and the city of Leon.
