Less Than One Week!!!

Thursday, I will be taking off!  I can't believe it's nearly here.  I feel like I'm not prepared yet.  There's so much to do, both here, work, and prep stuff.  I haven't trained enough, got my pack down to a weight I'm mentally comfortable with, or finished my reservations (Can't make up my mind where to stay that first night, either Bayonne, or St. Jean Pied de Port.) I have to clean the house (or at least our bedroom) and work one more night at the O.G. and three more days at Faith.  Dentist appointments, and two very special birthdays, and then I'll be done :-).  God is the God of details and I have to trust in Him that all the last minute details will be taken care of, and that I keep my focus on what's most important- spending time with those I love.

A sad thing happened last week.  I had to part with my treasured Scarpa boots. Praise God for REI, who takes back anything for any reason at any time.  I was so excited to have them because they are supposed to be top of the line, and last forever.  Unfortunately I couldn't walk more than 4 miles at a time in them.  While was afraid the Ahnu boots I bought last fall might not last the entire Camino plus training, I know I wouldn't last at all in the Scarpas.  A lesson learned in trusting my first instincts and not letting myself be distracted by "something better."

It was a truly special morning today.  Worship and communion with my church family, replete with lots of hugs and blessings and a beautiful day to walk to and from church.  The sermon was about grace and was just what I needed to hear.  It was all like a gift from God, helping me through the anxiousness of getting ready.  I know what it's like to feel a "balm for the soul."  For awhile at least, I have peace in my heart.

  1. Just got through reading this post and the previous one and I've got to tell you how proud I am of you for not letting stuff bring you down. "Stuff" is what the enemy throws at us so that they we are too distracted to remember that God has always kept been there for us. I'll be praying for you starting right now and until you return.

  2. What a joy...walking with Christ through the final details of your preparation, and walking with Christ through some of the most beautiful areas on the planet. So excited for you, Kim. The journey actually began long ago when the Spirit planted the seed for this walk in your heart. Can't wait to live it out with you, albeit vicariously. Go in peace!
